Five For The Future

Giving back to the WordPress open-source community.

A video from WordCampEU about this program.

My Experience

I was introduced to WordPress in February 2022.

I was lucky to be in the right places at the right time. I jumped into learning about coding and making websites with an online course. At first, it was overwhelming and I almost gave up. I decided to not put a lot of pressure on myself to get it done now. So, I restarted the lessons and started to write notes. Since I am a visual learner this helped me understand the coding in html and css. I completed the first assignment and I GOT IT. I ENJOYED IT.

Joining Learn WordPress

After attending many WordPress meetups I wanted to be part of the education and sharing of knowledge.

The big one was to be a content creator for the Learn WordPress training team. To use my educator skills and my love of helping others to provide tutorials and workshops. So, I did it. As of this writing, I recorded my first tutorial and it is waiting for review. Fingers crossed I won’t have too many edits.

Now, almost a year from that first meetup I will be attending my first WordCamp. I am super excited to meet the people I have met through this amazing online community in person.

So far I have been volunteering all on my own time. I knew that others were sponsored by their workplace and was starting to look into how I could get sponsored. Like I said in the beginning. I was in the right place at the right time. Today, someone posted the video at the top of the page. It got me to sit and blog about it and to research how I can be a part of this program.
