It’s only the 11th!
Last week was pretty chill. After the holidays, some traveling to see family and friends, it was a good time for reflection, organization, and cleaning out the unwanted.
This week was like jumping in with both feet. I started my new volunteer position as a Learn WordPress training team rep. There are 3 of us with me in the States and the others in Asia. Which still to this day blows my mind that I get to work with people on the other side of the world. For those that don’t know WordPress.org is an open-source project that relies on volunteers to run a huge portion of all the websites including the White House and NASA. Check out the WordPress Showcase One of the teams that supports the project is the training team. The one I am part of. The team provides learning materials for people new to website design or those who need to improve their skills and learn about new features. If you have a couple of hours a month and would like to contribute as a co-host for workshops, review materials, or create content. Join the training team and start with “Getting started” in the top section.
Back to my fulfilled week.
I belong to several FB groups which is a great way to make friends and network within your profession. The groups are starting to host events so check out different groups. Also, Meetup has a lot of WordPress groups locally and there is the Learn WordPress Online Workshops group I joined a virtual call with a group that was very beneficial to learn about having a contract and setting limits for clients. The resources are out there and they are free. Another meeting I had was very special because it is a mini mindset group that supports each other in our business journey and our lives. This is the type of group that you block off your calendar for no matter what. I ended last night with the training team’s global meeting. We meet online each week to share things that are happening and what people are working on.
In between meetings, that inspire me and fulfill my love of sharing my knowledge with others, I cleaned out my computer’s recycle bin and organized files and bookmarks. Went through that bookmark file that says Read later. Still working on the email subscriptions that were sent over the holidays. Almost clear.
If you haven’t noticed yet I used the word “fulfill” a couple of times throughout this post. Fulfill is my word of the year. I got the idea from Josepha Haden Chomphosy, Executive Director of the WordPress project. What is your word? I picked fulfill because I want to be fulfilled in the choices I make. I want what I do to matter. Making time for the things in my life that matter and fulfill my life.
I am already looking at the calendar for next week and hope to see you soon. I will be a guest at the WordPress Hartford, CT Meetup on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 6 pm-8 pm EST.
Thank you for stopping by and spending some time together.
